Within the framework of the “Promoting Eco-Industrial Parks from the Global Eco-Industrial Park Program” Project sponsored by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), on September 12, 2023, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (VKP) in coordination with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Dong Nai Industrial Park Management Board (DIZA) conducted a field survey to assess the implementation of the transition to an eco-industrial park model at AMATA Bien Hoa and Fleming Vietnam Industrial Parks.
The field inspection team highly appreciated the construction, development, and efforts of AMATA Bien Hoa in converting to the EIP model and wastewater treatment in the industrial park.
The project is being implemented in 4 industrial parks: Dinh Vu – Deep C (Hai Phong), Hiep Phuoc (Ho Chi Minh City), Amata (Dong Nai), and Sonadezi (Binh Duong) with the aim of promoting the development of the EIP model in Vietnam.
The project has achieved positive results:
- About 295 resource efficiency and cleaner production solutions have been proposed for 37 enterprises in the industrial parks.
- 62 industrial symbiosis solutions between industrial park enterprises and between industrial parks and urban areas have been proposed.
- An estimated 4.4 million kWh of electricity, 20.8 thousand m3 of water, 800,000 USD, and 87,000 tons of CO2 equivalent are expected to be saved annually.
These results contribute to optimizing resource efficiency in industrial parks and urban areas, moving towards a circular economy.
The project has also integrated regulations to develop the EIP model into relevant mechanisms and policies, contributing to improving the economic, environmental, and social efficiency of the industry.
